Valentines Day Update #2

MONDAY UPDATE - We just secured a good supply of the very oriental lilies you'r looking at now from an excellent grower, a regular supplier to hollyworld. We will have many stargazer bouqets for Valentines Day. Photos later.
We're not going to do this every day, honest. We don't have a plan, does that sound familiar? The rain and the cold have got us running, struggling to keep up with our days, busy as ever. We'll get to that Valentines Day and get thru it, we know, we've done it so many times. But you want to know more, see more, need help making that decision. Truth is, the few photos we have on site, it wasn't a casual thing, it took hours to get them, and days, weeks really, to get the time to shoot them, who doesn't have a big project, here in Southern California, that they are working on, and need just the right combination of weather and mental space to get it done right?

We didn't get the shot we really need, the one of our two of our most popular items, the stargazer and dozen red roses bouqet, and the stargazer and half dozen bouqet. We were all set up to get those photos on Sunday February 7, yesterday, but there were too many other pressing things going on around us, life, that we had to deal with right away, and maybe that is a good thing for us all, because we had to go to market, and we did note the prices they are charging, and we are definitely not going anywhere near where they are...and remember, please consider, that our photos are, were, just taken of our flowers. We didn't take them from someone else's website back in the summer, edit them down, and post them a few weeks before Valentines Dayd, like some people have. We didn't edit them until they are no longer recognizable as flowers. Click on our images and they will enlarge on the screen, giving you the equivalent of a serious closeup. You can't do that with the other flower sites, and you wouldn't like what you saw if you did. We hope that is not the case here.

Thanks again for your patience. Look for more photos here later on today.
Thank you!

Valentines Update #1

Walkin customers are welcome as always.
We will, typically, adjust our perspective
to the tone of the day as it evolves -
weather and current events can have
an effect on what our customers want
us to do, what they want to express.
If one player decides that he wants half
a dozen of the biggest bouqets we can
make, this will have a huge effect on
what the next hundred customers want.
Maybe we should call that guy now.

On that other hand, we may see a focus on our "specials", fresh roses, minimally arranged, that have a little adornment of one kind or another, what kind undeterminable even at this writing, a week before Valentine's Day, due to the extreme weather of early February here in Southern California.

There will be wax flower from San Diego, ever popular at Valentines time, in all its varieties, with briskly scented blooms of pink and purple, and baby's breath, imported from South America this year due to the large amount of rain. Our greens will be, as always, fresh cut California greens, primarily myrtle,
which makes all flowers look tall and elegant.

This year we will have a large selection of Ecuadorian roses, brought to the door, not by a broker or importer, but by a partner in the ranch in Ecuador, as he has been doing for almost a year now. They have larger blooms than the domestic roses we have always featured, and although a bit pricier, have been in steady demand as cuts and in bouqets.

Our California growers are also growing bigger and better roses than ever, with many new varieties added each year, particularly in pastels and multi colors, and we will have a large supply of California reds and colors on hand, more than enough, we hope, to meet the demand.

There are many sources of flowers in SoCal, from the street corner to big box stores, and they will be advertising some very competitive prices. We will be receiving reports on what is being sold where throughout the day from customers, old and new, who are not at all shy to inform us that they found themselves a distance away from us, took a look at what our others had to offer, and decided to make the drive to Barham Blvd to get the best.

Thinking about Delivery? Once again, don't wait! Please get that order in as
soon as possible. Many of our customers are going for it, getting the roses delivered to their intended's office/business/school/home on Friday, the 12th, to eliminate any doubt, and any competition, and set up a romantic weekend scenario with their beloved, enhanced, to great degree, by all the oohs and aahs that accompany the delivery of our flowers. A powerful picture that will not be forgotten!

VALENTINES DAY
FEBRUARY
8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15

Valentines Day is just not long enough
to make every woman in your life happy.

We suggest you begin on Monday February
8, with family, and friends, kind of scaling
up to the big moment, if there is to be one,
isn't that what we're here for? And it goes
right on thru Monday the 15th, President's
Day, a day many have off, what a wonderful
opportunity to catch up if you missed one
person or another! Time to visit everyone!

You could call, sure, but that is not enough,
not for a woman, certainly not for your mom,
who will, as she usually does, tell you that
phone call is more than enough for her.
Trust us, it's not.

Not for the woman who raised you up,
cared for you more than you'll ever know.
She didn't phone it in, and we recommend
you don't either. Take care of mom first.
Even if it gets your significant other, mmm,
aggravated. Mom was there first of all...
unless, of course, you count grandma,
grandmas, rather. A loving man would
not forget, no matter how long ago it was.

Does that mean exes too? It could, sure,
depending on the circumstances. Maybe
there's still a spark, why not? Unless
that significant other would get, mmm,
negative about a few flowers or whatever.
Of course, that could be, with the economy
still recovering, and it is recovering, and
Valentines Day will be a testament to that
...and we'll be there to help you say it the
way you want to, big time, over the top, hold
it down, cute, romantic, or burning hot.

We've been keeping it real since 1983, have
sold more roses than any other flower shop,
and will be waiting for you, even if you're there
at the very last minute, don't sweat it, not only
will we have something to make her happy,
we'll make you happy too, with just a few
words of encouragment, good for everyone.

Here's a few right now -beleive in yourself,
and, if you are in that dizzy state of being
called love, go with it, and if your intended
doesn't look your way after you've made an
honest effort, let it go, move on, you'll find
love soon enough, especially if you have a
bouqet of our roses in your hand, and a
song in your heart.

VALENTINES DAY 2010

Sunday February 14 is Valentines Day.

We will be open as usual at seven am.

Yes, we know, our signs and stuff say
we are open from eight to eight, but
we hedge a little. We are there almost
every day at seven am.

We usually close at nine pm on friday
and saturday nights, and we probably
will do the same for valentines friday
and saturday. We might close later,
but we won't close earlier, we'll be
there til nine at least to take care of
late arriving romeos from the further
reaches of southern california, utah,
nevada, arizona, new york, london
and paris, wherever, and we are not
kidding, friends, they travel for this
one. Don't worry guys, we'll be here
for you - and ladies, and there are
more than a few ladies who will be
picking up their valentine flowers
for their loved ones, ladies, we are
completely objective in the making
and selling of our floral products,
we are, truthfully, addressing the
men in our readership group here
because we know they need more
motivation to TURN OFF THE GAME
AND GET DOWN TO THE FLOWER
SHOP NOW!! - it's not that they're
less intelligent, they've just been
watching those loud programs,
loud video games, and especially
loud commercials all their years.

We hate commercials. This is not
a commercial. This is a thought
provoking piece of literature.
More Valentines Day pieces will
be posted shortly. Need ideas?
prices, product info? - on the
way. Just remember, this is our
twenty seventh Valentines Day.
We have been there many times.
We have been discussing flower
questions and perspectives with
our growers and suppliers since
last summer. Yes, we always do.

First suggestion: If you've never
been in our shop, get in there
now and get a feel for it. Don't
be an intellectual, buy roses
now, see the power, see what
happens when you give them
to a woman. If you only have
one woman in mind, and want
to wait for Valentines Day to
give her flowers, and you have
never done this before, yes,
for sure, by some roses now,
they are only 8.98 a dozen
this week. Give them to your
mom, your sis, grandma, the
neighbor, your boss. Mmm,
that might be a really great
idea, if your boss is thinking
she (or he, add your own
viewpoint throughout the
rhetoric, friends) is going to
be your Valentine.

We'll leave you with that
thought. A lot to think about
here, that's for sure.
